[06/25/2001] Chat server down today due to multiple issues

We are currently changing the software we use for our real time chat server backend. Our current server software for it is not that good and we are changing to a better piece of software. This will be keep the chat room off line until tomorrow, most likely.

In addition, there has recently been an issue with outsiders coming into the chat room and setting up autoreconnects on their broad band connections to gain, and maintain, channel operator status and then harrass our members. This will NOT be tolerated. We will not only upgrade our software, but LOCK down the server and NO ONE besides us will be able to become a channel operator. Furthermore, all channel traffic and messages will now be logged.
