Toyo Tires® has been named the “Official Tire of NASA” (National Auto Sport Association) beginning with the 2003 season. The Proxes RA-1™ D.O.T.-approved competition radial is a popular choice for both amateur and professional road racers. The Proxes RA-1™ provides a high level of grip while featuring superior thermal stability to ensure a more consistent, longer-lasting tire for extensive use on the track. The design of the Proxes RA-1™ benefits race teams by allowing more predictable chassis setups, and is more economical by requiring less tire replacements during the course of a season.

According to Earl Knoper, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation, “We are excited about our association with NASA and our increased involvement for 2003. NASA promotes a series of road races and events that complement our D.O.T.-legal Proxes RA-1™ tire. We are proud to be the tire of choice for such a large contingent of amateur and professional racers.” Formed in 1991, NASA is a 10,000-member organization with more than 15 chapters nationwide promoting road racing. NASA provides a safe and controlled environment for a large variety of classes including: NASA American Iron™, NASA Spec Miata Challenge™, Honda Challenge, the United States Touring Car Championship™ (USTCC), and the Camaro-Mustang Challenge™. Proxes RA-1™ tires feature “V” or “Z” ratings (depending on size), and are also available in 13-, 14-, 15-, 16-, 17- and 18-inch diameters. The tread is molded with an 8/32" depth for superior wet traction, while it can be shaved to 4/32" to generate an extreme cornering force on dry tracks.
