Stand Tall: A how-to on tall valve covers
As we make our Mustangs go faster we make changes to the valvetrain that at some point necessitate taller than stock valve covers to fit. Some like the "racy" look of taller valve covers but to the hard core enthusiast they serve a bigger purpose. [06/01/2004] Thousands of Hot Rods expected at 3rd Annual Holley PRO Hot Rod and Muscle Car Nationals Event June 11-13th

By: -

Thousands of Hot Rods & Muscle Cars are expected to invade Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY for the 3rd Annual PRO event. In addition to the PRO-Edelbrock Drag Racing heads up action, there will hundreds of show vehicles and trucks entered into the Auto Show & Shine Spectacular, presented by Car Craft Magazine. A special treat for fans and families, the Freestyle Moto-X Motorcycle stunt team will be on hand, headed by international superstar Tyler Kyle, to perform dare-devil tricks and stunts!

Even though the race at Bowling Green marks only the third race of the season, the action is heating up in some of PRO-Edelbrock Drag Racing Series tightly contested classes. In Denso Pro Street newcomer Tim O’Hare and his wild, blown ‘68 Camaro will be attempting to do what no other driver in the class has ever done: win three-straight races. Another win by the Maryland contractor would give him a commanding lead in the 2004 title battle for the PRO-Edelbrock championship. O’Hare will be facing strong competition from other racers such as 2003 Pro Street series champ Steve Miller and his twin-turbocharged S-10 truck, and Randy Draffen’s nitrous powered big-block Camaro.

Vortech Xtreme Street is another class to keep a close eye on. Rapidly becoming the most popular class in all of heads up drag racing, fans can expect incredible wheelstanding action and doorhandle-to-doorhandle racing all the way down the track in less than eight and a half seconds! With two different winners in the first two events it’s anyone’s guess who will emerge from Bowling Green with a win.

The 3rd Annual Holley PRO Hot Rod and Muscle Car Nationals will be a non-stop party, featuring not only the fastest doorslammers in the country, but a lot more including:

- Auburn Gear Burnout Contest
- Dyno Challenge
- Live Radio Remotes from the Event
- Auto Show and Shine Spectacular, presented by Car Craft Magazine
- ATI ProCharger Top Dog Shootout!
- Swap Meet
- Exhibition Vehicles, Jet Cars, and Wheelstanders
- Huge Manufacturer''s Midway -- Over 50 Trailers!
