Extra Information from the Owner | |
I purchased the car in Aug of 1996 with no modifications. but, I needed to make a couple. The first thing I did was I bumped up the timing to 16 deg and got a set of under drive pulleys. Then In April of 1998 I was involved in a car accident which put the car out of commission for about 4 months. This gave me the opportunity to shave some weight off. I went with a 2.5 cowl induction hood and got an electric fan. Then I went with off road h-pipe, and I raced it like that for a year and had a best of 14.5 @ 92mph. Then I had Karl, from Karl's East Coast Speed in Warwick, Rhode Island, pull out the stock 2.73 gears and put in a set of 3.27's. That got me a best ET of a 14.2@ 97 mph.
Then on the ride home from the race track on Fun Ford Weekend I blew a head gasket. That gave me the opportunity to make some modifications. I ported the heads and had them shaved 15 thousandths, 1.7 full roller rockers, E303 cam, 1 5/8 shorty headers and my oldest son ported a lower intake for me. That got me a best of 13.42 @ 101 mph. This is a nice weather only car. I do drive it to work sometimes but for fun I take it to New England Dragway. |
